New Concept in Paddling Info/New Paddler Involvement...

Keep your eyes on www.worldkayak.com for a new concept in local paddling information and new paddler involvement. In late April this site will begin to offer localized info and weekly/bi-weekly paddling trips in your area. Great for new paddlers to learn runs and meet partners to paddle with.

Paddling this Weekend...

The weather this week has been a little more unstable than the last month. Nice on Friday, but didn't make it out. Cloudy with a few sunny breaks. Had a great run down the lower main. Ready for the level to pick up a little, but in a week or so will be time to hit the Upper section. Troy and I should have new Jacksons in this week :-)

Had a good week paddling. Monday went with Brooke from Horseshoe Bend to Montour. She did great and had a lot of fun. Here are a couple of pics...

Then the boys and I did a little surfing on Friday evening at NoName...

Then Saturday Troy and I ran some friends down the HSB-Montour Run. And it's not even April!! :-)

Water is Low - But Good To Be On the River Again!

The boys and I ran the Payette on an easy section from Horseshoe Bend to Monture. We usually run this from the pullout just below the powerhouse, but decided to put in at the bridge behind Bend Country Store. This added about 3 miles to the trip and took an hour extra with all the flat water. The guage at HSB showed 1080 cfs and I don't think I would run it again unless it were closer to 1500. We drug bottom a few places - one we spent about 3 minutes pushing with our arms to get to a deep channel. But it was a fun run. There are a couple of sections that are fun to catch micro-eddies and ferry across the river. Saw 3 deer crossing the river and a bunch of geese and ducks.
